So I'm reading a Las Vegas Review Journal article about an increased police presence on the Las Vegas strip including the possibility of cameras and saw the following paragraph.
"Police Capt. Todd Fasulo, whose Convention Center Area Command includes the Strip, said cameras would help identify illegal gamblers and vendors selling tap water in used bottles who prey on tourists." Here is a link to the article in its entirety.
On my last trip to Las Vegas I ended up buying several bottled waters from street vendors as I walked down the strip. I didn't notice anything unusual about the water bottles I purchased from the vendors but to be honest, I didn't look too closely at the bottle. Forget the fact that it's tap water, the implications of drinking from "used bottles" is obviously a huge health concern. This is not to imply that every vendor selling bottled water on the strip is selling tap water from used water bottles, but better to be safe than sorry. Next time, I'm purchasing my bottled water from Walgreens drug store on the strip or from the overly priced convenience stores inside one of the casinos. Vegas is a fun town but stuff like this just makes my stomach turn, litterally!
